Dear
Fr. Joe: I just (fill in really big sin here). What should I do?
One thing: seek forgiveness.
1. First, Forgiveness. Go to God in the sacrament of reconciliation
with your contrite heart and ask him to forgive you. Recieve it.
2. Then, if another person is involved in the sin (isn't that always the case?), seek their forgiveness (this is called reconciliation, too).
3. Then, get up and get running again!
“The first movement of the prayer of petition is asking forgiveness,
like the tax collector in the parable: ‘God, be merciful to me a
sinner!’ (Lk 18:13) It is a prerequisite for righteous and pure prayer.”
