St. Louis DeMontfort
Pope
John Paul II has declared this year to be the Year of the Rosary, especially
for peace in our world and in our families. One saint who really encouraged
and taught many people to pray the rosary was St. Louis Marie DeMontfort,
who dedicated his life to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was born in 1673
and died at the age of 43 in 1716. Today, people still use his book, True
Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, as a means to grow closer to Mary.
Even Pope John Paul II has credited DeMontfort's beautiful essay
on Mary for bringing him closer to our Blessed Mother.
St. Louis DeMontfort was known as an unconventional preacher. He would
put on mini-dramas, sing and encourage people to pray the rosary. In one
of his homilies, he gave the analogy of being a living stone of God. He
encouraged his listeners to let the Architect chisel them
to form a masterpiece.
St. Louis Mary DeMontfort's feast day is April 28.

That Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday make up one liturgical
celebration called the Triduum.
