Fr. Joe: Do you have dirty or mean thoughts?

Yep. I am afraid that these never go away. Believe it or not, that is good news and bad news. It is bad news because these thoughts can lead us to sin. It is good news because these thoughts can lead us to be Spiritual heroes. Right?

See, you and I can't do much about when pops up in our head. Granted, we are responsible to avoid looking at pictures, movies or books that will promote impure thoughts, but sometimes, even when we work hard to make sure that no impure things come into our field of vision, they still float around in our brain seeking attention.

You know what to do: Be a Hero. Reject sin and embrace holiness.

From the Catechism: (CCC 2013)
"All Christians in any state or walk of life are called to the fullness of Christian life and to the perfection of charity." All are called to holiness: "Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." (Matthew 5:48)

In order to reach this perfection the faithful should use the strength dealt out to them by Christ's gift, so that ... doing the will of the Father in everything, they may wholeheartedly devote themselves to the glory of God and to the service of their neighbor. Thus the holiness of the People of God will grow in fruitful abundance, as is clearly shown in the history of the Church through the lives of so many saints.

Enjoy another day in God's presence!
